The Programme

Phi Partners is supporting our client on a major strategic transformation of its Sophis platform. The programme spans finance, regulatory reporting, equities, commodities and risk, requiring both functional and technical expertise to translate business requirements into solutions across front-to-back and Risk teams.

The programme operates under an Agile delivery model, with squads working end-to-end across the backlog using sprint ceremonies including planning, refinement, retrospectives, and demos. Phi’s consultants act as embedded members of the client’s delivery squads, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, business SMEs, and other technology teams to deliver high-quality outcomes within a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Sophis / Sophis Invest Developer, you will be responsible for hands-on Toolkit customisation development, SQL development, query optimisation, and technical leadership. Working as an embedded member of the Risk squad to deliver accurate, reliable solutions within a fast-paced, regulated environment, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with risk management teams to define requirements and ensure technical solutions meet business needs;
  • Troubleshoot and optimise code to ensure components and reports are generated efficiently and data is presented accurately;
  • Collaborate with the Risk squad on sprint planning, refinement, and delivery, contributing Sophis Toolkit and technical expertise to the backlog;
  • Work with other technical teams to integrate and support the data required for reporting and calculations;
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for developed components, customisations, and configuration changes;
  • Support SIT and UAT phases by providing technical investigation, diagnostic support, and data-level fixes within agreed timelines.

Key Skills

Must Have:

  • Recent hands-on Sophis development experience, with expertise across customisations and platform components;
  • Strong technical knowledge of Sophis workflows, including experience interpreting and developing complex SQL-based P&L and balance calculation logic;
  • Solid SQL capability, including syntax, complex object utilisation, and query optimisation in a capital markets context;
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C++ OR C#;
  • Understanding of Market Risk Management and the need for accurate risk reporting and calculation;
  • Proven technical leadership experience, including mentoring developers and setting engineering standards within a squad or chapter structure;
  • Experience working within an Agile squad delivery model, with strong contributions to sprint ceremonies and backlog management;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and business stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of DevOps tooling and CI/CD pipelines within a financial services platform context;
  • Exposure to PowerShell, Python, or shell scripting for database and platform automation;
  • Knowledge of other financial data management systems and reporting tools;.
